As reported on aviation-safety.net, a China Southern Airbus A380 encountered hail and suffered significant damage. Here’s an animation showing its flight path with satellite imagery overlaid.
While initial reports stated the hail was encountered at FL371, that seems unlikely as there has not been any adverse weather on the route prior to them entering the downwind side of a large convective development in the 02:50 UTC frame below.
